Bluestones One supports fundraiser for Jeanie-May

We regularly try to support local and national charities and fundraisers, but the one we’re recently supporting is much closer to home.

We regularly try to support local and national charities and fundraisers, but the one we’re recently supporting is much closer to home.

Our Operations Director, Gary Lowe, recently shared his niece’s story with us and we agreed we had to help. Seven-year-old Jeanie-May fell ill in October last year, and following numerous tests, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. After going through intensive chemotherapy, steroid treatments and various injections/medications and reaching the maintenance stage in April, she started to experience pain in her right foot. Following more invasive tests and scans, a growth was found, and Jeanie-May and her family were given the devastating news that it was an extremely rare secondary cancer called Histiocytic Sarcoma. After more investigations, the decision was made to amputate Jeanine-May’s leg through the knee.

Gary said, “The operation took place on the 12th July and one week and one day after the major operation, Jeanie-May proved herself to the doctors and nurses that she could do anything she set her mind to, so they discharged her. She is now back home with her family and facing new challenges daily.”

One of these challenges is raising enough money to purchase a state-of-art prosthetic leg, so Jeanie-May’s family have organised a fundraiser and auction to reach the goal of combatting that challenge quicker.

To help raise as much money for Jeanie-May’s prosthetic leg, we have donated tickets to watch a Manchester United game in a corporate box at Old Trafford to be auctioned off in the Fundraiser in Aid of Jeanie-May on Friday 3rd August. The auction prize includes tickets to watch a game in an East Stand corporate box, free bar before and after the match, three course A La Carte meal, half-time entertainment and a visit from a MUFC Legend!

If you would like to support Jeanie-May and her family, and potentially bag tickets to a Manchester United game, you can attend the fundraiser on Friday 3rd August, 7 pm at Casablanca Grimsby, Oxford Street, DN32 7QH Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire.
