As part of our meet the merchandisers series, we’re speaking to merchandisers throughout Bluestones One to find out about their experiences, why they enjoy their job and what they do on a daily basis. This time we’re focussing on Christopher Johnson, on of our Senior Team Leaders.

When did you start working for Bluestones One?

February 2018

How did you find out about the positions at Bluestones One?

Bluestones One was recommended to me by a friend.

What do you enjoy about working for Bluestones One?

The communications at Bluestones One are clear and efficient – the communication between the shop floor and management is always excellent, the office is always on hand to support with any problems that may occur on-site and the camaraderie between all the colleagues is brilliant.

What do you do in a typical work day?

I start my shift with a handover with the client to gather what we are expected to achieve on the shift. My role is to also work closely with the rackers, electricians and floor painters etc. I always ensure the shift has been completed and any hiccups that have occurred have been dealt with and that the night shift has been adjusted to accommodate such issues. It is also my responsibility to ensure the shop if safe and ready for trading.

What opportunities have you been given since working for Bluestones One?

I have been given plenty of opportunities to develop and grow with the company. I have completed my SSSTS and SMSTS certificates, and I also had the opportunity to complete my first aid training and gain Fire Marshall tickets. I joined Bluestones One as a Team Leader on the grocery side. I am now a Senior Team Leader / Site Manager and I am trained to cover any site that the company currently deals with.

Would you recommend this job to your friends and family?

Yes – there are plenty of opportunities to progress within the company. Bluestones One is forwarding-thinking and treat their staff with respect.
