Bluestones One were proud to support Asda with their Yorkshire Rose Project, which focused on upgrading and improving the shopping experience in key stores close to their Yorkshire heartland. We supported the merchandising moves at Pudsey, Kingswood Hull, and York, working closely with the Asda store teams and contractors to implement the required changes. Our passionate teams worked through the nights over a 5-week period to deliver this fantastic new concept to Asda customers.

Challenges

The considerable transformation required close collaboration with both the stores and contractors to deliver each nightly phase without disrupting store operations or impacting customers. When issues or delays occurred, the dedicated Bluestones team leaders engaged with the wider project team to develop solutions, overcome challenges, and ensure the projects remained on track.

Results

The Yorkshire Rose projects were completed on time and within budget, with very little disruption to customers. Both head office and stores praised the smooth rollout and the professionalism of the Bluestones teams. Early feedback is showing sales growth and reflects the strong collaboration between Bluestones and Asda. The project also highlights our ability to deliver large-scale changes in the grocery sector and lays the foundations for future expansion of the new concept across other stores in the Asda portfolio.

Summary

Bluestones One supported Sainsbury’s in their 10th new supermarket this year, supplying skilled teams for merchandising, managing equipment, and pricing.

The 29,000 sqft building is a great investment into the economy of the North East. The new supermarket included the opening of Argos, TU, a full food range, fresh produce, and much more.

The store was completed and opened on time, with all merchandising and systems tasks completed to a high standard. Summary

Bluestones One were proud to support Asda when they confirmed the exit of their old in bay Cake Shop stand. Bluestones One were asked to execute this project from start to finish by coordinating the fixture order and delivery, providing an engagement brief, execution in store and finally removal and recycling of all waste and old equipment. Working in partnership with the fixture suppliers and Asda distribution centres Bluestones arranged exact equipment dates, communicated and briefed to stores what they were required to prepare and then installed the new equipment the next night.

Challenges

Bluestones One worked closely with both the equipment suppliers and Asda distribution centres and communicated to every store creating a roll out plan and programme that ensured the equipment was delivered on time, the stock removed ahead and the new equipment installed the next evening. Co ordinating the install around every stores operational hours to avoid any overtime requirements minimised store disruption and reduced any impact to sales.

Results

The project was completed on time and within budget and all merchandising, racking and equipment returned back to standard.

Bluestones One received positive feedback from the customer and as a result further orders have now been placed.

Bluestones One have been supporting Sainsburys in their 1st new supermarket in 2025, supplying dedicated skilled personnel for merchandising, POS, managing equipment and pricing. The 19,000 sq ft building opened in May in Felixstowe, also part of the new supermarket was the opening of the Argos ‘store in store’ with great success.

Summary

Supermarket Sainsbury’s has once again stressed that it will “put food back at the heart” of its business. In the latest strategy update, we have recently supported Sainsbury’s Scarborough by reducing the general merchandise and clothing range in order to install more food choices within the store, including new freezer and fridge installations.

Bluestones One were proud to support the pest control experts Ecolab by helping them to gain access to install complex and sophisticated netting that prevents pigeons and other birds accidently gaining access into retail stores, warehouses and outlets. Working in partnership with Ecolab fitters and the store managers Bluestones One coordinated removing stock and racking and equipment to gain access and minimise the distribution to customers and store staff.

Challenges

Bluestones One worked closely with both Ecolab and the stores to create a phasing plan that ensured that ranges were removed in co-ordination with stock deliveries and traffic movement so that the store operation was not disrupted and stock was kept on sale for customers at all times.

The project was completed on time and within budget and all merchandising, racking and equipment returned back to standard.

Bluestones One were proud to be part of opening a new Local store in Westminster Paddington station, this 1.8k sqft store strategically supports a new major mixed-use development adjacent to Paddington main station. Bluestones One supplied a skilled team to complete ticket preparation, dress all fixtures to planograms and replenish the store within a 6 day window.

Working in partnership with shopfitters, project and store managers to ensure all aspects were delivered.

Challenges

This new local store wasn’t without its challenges with internet issues from day 1 causing some hurdles the teams had to overcome to ensure the project remained on track. Bluestones One worked with the wider project team, all exhibiting the dedication needed to accomplish the goal to launch the store on time.

Results

The store was completed and opened on time, all merchandising completed to a good standard, working alongside store colleagues, shop fitters and the project management team to ensure smooth handover to the store manager for opening on schedule.
