B&Q Visitor Process Update Form

Keeping Our Stores Safe: Visitor Instructions

Protecting our stores
Following recent communications internally regarding increased cybersecurity threats and suspicious calls, this process provides guidance when attending B&Q sites:

We must do all that we can to prevent unauthorised access to our systems and back of house areas. Therefore:
  • Only authorised visitors and contractors will be allowed access to back of house or paint machine areas.
  • Only authorised visitors with a valid issue reference number or their own access may use Store PCs.
  • Back of house areas will be protected by combination or PIN locks, updated regularly.

Permission to Work
All contractors and reps must complete a Permission to Work form before beginning any activity, in addition to signing the visitors' book.

Exclusions to this process include:
  • Cleaners
  • GXO colleagues

Visitors to Our Stores
  • All visitors must report to the Duty Manager upon arrival at the store.
  • The Duty Manager must explain the basics of fire safety procedures, including the store’s assembly point.
  • The Duty Manager must oversee the signing in and out of all visitors and be aware of the purpose of each visit and any works being carried out.
  • At the end of the visit, the Duty Manager should validate, if required, that all repairs or works have been completed to a satisfactory standard.
  • All visitors, contractors, and engineers must sign in and out using the visitor book. Entries must be clear and fully completed.
  • If entries are unclear, visitors should be asked to rewrite their information.
  • Where applicable, visitors should present their work ID to the Duty Manager upon signing in.
