“It’s rewarding when you step back at the end of it and see it finished.”

Last week, we sat down with Gary Christer, one of Bluestones One’s seasoned store installations and refits specialists. We discussed Gary’s background, his pivotal role within Bluestones One, and how he has contributed to our success.

Gary’s journey in the retail merchandising and installation sectors spans over 15 years, and he has spent more than two years of his career with Bluestones One. Our discussion with him showcased his passion for consistently delivering exceptional service to our clients no matter what it takes. Whether it’s early mornings, late nights or even weekends, Gary commits himself to fulfilling project agreements.

His commitment to delivering a best-in-class service is proven by his ability to ensure that he and his team consistently deliver the highest standards whilst paying meticulous attention to health and safety protocols. This commitment is reflected in the minimal snagging issues encountered upon project completion.

When asked about his typical day, Gary shared, “I usually arrive at the site around 6:30am in the morning. After signing in, I review all paperwork and conduct necessary checks to ensure compliance. I then inspect the work already completed, ensuring it aligns with the relevant standards. From this, I prepare the team for the day ahead, making sure we stay on schedule. While challenges are a part of our daily routine, we persevere to complete projects on time and to the highest standards. It’s rewarding when you step back at the end of it and see it finished.”

Gary’s knowledge of installations, including racking specifications, coding, and effective problem-solving, is second to none. His understanding of health and safety standards and best practices contributes significantly to building long-term client relationships. Clients often request Gary’s involvement in their projects due to the consistently high standards he upholds. Furthermore, he has dedicated time to upskilling his team and nurturing their growth.

When asked for advice for those considering a career in retail merchandising and installation, Gary advised them to understand that the role requires working away from home. However, he emphasised the rewards of career progression, working with great people, and having the opportunity to form lasting friendships far outweigh this.

Gary is an invaluable asset to Bluestones One, and we are extremely appreciative of him and his dedication to supporting Bluestones One to offer the best possible service to our clients time and time again.

Meet the team: Garry Leck

Meet Garry Leck: Lead Resource Co-ordinator

Tell us about your role at Bluestones OneI am the Lead Resource Coordinator and have been with Bluestones One for almost three years now. I started out in the field as a Merchandiser, then moved up to Team Leader before I got offered a permanent role within the office. I spend most of my time based in our North East office where we run a small team responsible for allocating the work to the field staff. On a day to day basis, we allocate the work and resources needed for each job site. How would you normally start your day at work? The start of each day is different and led by what has happened the previous night. The main priority is to resolve any day to day challenges or additional requests generated by the night teams. Once resolved we can move onto the planning of the following days and weeks. What does a typical day at work look like for you?A typical day is mainly dealing with enquiries generated on-site whilst trying to organise the following weeks. If we can get everyone into a job they like with people they enjoy working with, our job is made so much easier.
